Back Up and Running...

Ok, I am hoping this is the last post like this. My site is back and running. Galleries are all visible and my client site is available as well. Whew! Again, a big thanks to my hosting company for getting things going again over the weekend.

Turning Two

Little J's session was on the hottest day of the year but she didn't let that stop her. Just like her session 8 months ago (has it been that long?) this little girl was on the move. see previous session here Look how much she has grown and she is now sporting some pretty cute piggy tails too!

We had a chance to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house and play in the neighbor's gorgeous field. I was so excited to see all the yellow buttercups blooming! And we even had a few horses to keep us company. For me, the setting couldn't have been anymore perfect. Adorable little girl, gorgeous field and beautiful horses....

The moment I took this shot, I knew I would love it. One of my favorites of the night...

Simply Glowing

After several weeks of rain, I got a chance to meet this incredibly gorgeous family for a session to celebrate the new little one on the way. Mom and Dad were so easy going and up for anything, even trudging through some pretty soggy ground to capture these field shots.

These were taken in the evening. There is simply no more amazing time to capture the light. I was so excited to see the beautiful field Mom picked out for this session. It was so glorious!

I am so excited to meet your new little one in July, Erika and Cody! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek. And thanks again for inviting me out to capture these moments for you.

A Beautiful Family...with style

I had such a great time meeting this family on Saturday. Mom and I had been planning this session for awhile and after a bad weather delay, we finally got a chance to meet on a gorgeous evening. This sweet family is a perfect example of what to wear for a family session. Mom and Dad were a great coordinating "backdrop" to their more colorful kids. And little miss even had on a pair of rubber rain boots. :) Gotta love that!

My Mother's Day Gift

All I wanted for Mother's Day was a few new photos of my babies. They were happy to oblige (well, after I promised ice cream to Will he was more than happy). We had fun playing and Maddy was in heaven in the long grass, even though she could barely stand up and kept toppling over. Even though we had a great time, I wasn't sure I got many "keepers". How wrong I was.... I was so excited today when I looked at these pictures. They are being their silly, happy selves and I love these pictures so much. Definitely the best Mother's Day gift I could ask for. xoxo

Such a beautiful name for such a beautiful little girl. Miss Anna just celebrated her first birthday and I was lucky to spend a morning with her and her mommy on their gorgeous farm. We got to play in the spring grass, see their lovely pond and even get our toes a little muddy! Now, she wouldn't be a country girl if she didn't know a thing or two about mud, right? Glad I could be the one to introduce her sweet toesies to the glorious dirt!

The Joy of Life! Visiting the daffodil fields this past weekend was one of those simple joys that brought such smiles to the kids' faces. Little Hudson. What a beautiful little man. Only 9 days old and he was content to sleep the entire 3 hour session. I want to thank you so much Lynette for asking me to photograph your newest addition. I had a wonderful time on Saturday. I always leave a newborn session feeling soothed and content. It's as if holding a newborn is good for my soul. I feel so blessed to be able to do something I love so much and in turn give the gift of memories to new parents. For we all know how quickly these moments will pass.

Ok, so I know it's been a few weeks since my last Fashion Friday. But this one was worth the wait, I promise. If you haven't discovered Etsy, you don't know what you have been missing. I dressed Maddy in some of her wonderful Etsy pieces and took her out in our backyard for a little mini shoot. I just love the layering in this outfit. When dressing your little ones, think layers and textures. This outfit has velvet pants, a sweet cotton pillowcase dress and a handknit cable knit sweater coat - all from Etsy.

I can't believe a whole year has gone by since I did little K's newborn photos. I've been so lucky to get to see him several times this past year and watch him grow through my lens. This little guy LOVES to smile. :) Just look at his happy little face. Can't help but smile back, can you?

Thanks so much for letting me be the one to document his first year, Amy and Kyle! I've loved getting to know and look forward to many more sessions to come. :)

Ok, so I didn't make Friday this week for the fashion ideas. But I'm only a day late. :) So in celebration of Valentine's Day, this week's clothing ideas all have a red theme.

I love the new Villa collection from The Gap. I actually just picked up some very similar pieces at our local GAP outlet. However, the outlet pieces are in white, green and blues rather than the red. But the designs are the same and the cuteness factor is still high. :) Besides, I love green so I was not disappointed!

Michelle and Troy are expecting in April! I am so excited. Not only is he sure to be as cute as his big sister, but I get to be the one to capture his newness in those first few days...I am so lucky!

Michelle was such a great model this weekend! I had so many ideas and she just went right along with me. It is so fun to photograph expectant mommies. Sometimes, I don't think we realize how truly beautiful we are when we are pregnant...even when we feel like a house! But what is more beautiful than the promise of new life?

Fashion Friday

One of the questions I get asked the most is "What should we wear?" And it's true, what your child wears to a photo session is very important. After seeing a fellow photographer post something similar on her blog, I have decided to showcase some clothing and outfits that would be perfect for photo sessions. Hopefully, this will get some ideas flowing for you! This is just a starting point, but if you like what you see I will provide a link to the store.

Spring is on its way. The spring lines are in the stores now and oh my, there is some CUTE stuff!

This week I have chosen clothing from The Gap and Old Navy.

First, for little boys (size 0-5T) from Old Navy. They are having a great sale too!

and for little girls, also from Old Navy. I was hoping to find a cute pair of rubber boots to pair with the striped tights and skirt, but Old Navy didn't have them... that would make this outfit to die for!

Here are a few more adorable choices for little girls, this time from
Baby Gap. These are from their Lawn Party collection in their toddler girl line.

and for toddler boys...layers are key. Baby Gap

Oh how I love green. This little green top is just too cute... paired with the yellow short cardigan and bright white capris. Does this scream Spring Is Here or what? For bigger girls, from Gap Kids

You will now have the luxury of purchasing the digital files from your session! I have created several different options that range from purchasing the entire session to buying single images (a 5 image minimum is required). I will also be including a musical CD slide show of your proofs with the purchase of a portrait collection! How cool is that? Please send me an email if you would like more information on the details and pricing.

I have also created a client site that will be available to all of my fabulous clients before their session. It includes information and pricing on all of my photos, collections and specialty items. It also is a great place to get ideas on what to wear and find out just what to expect at your photo session. I'm very excited about it and hope you will find it very helpful.

I am so lucky to be able to get to hold all of these beautiful little babies. It is such a joy. I get excited for all sessions but I must say...little babies (especially newborns) melt my heart. This little guy was so sweet. Technically not a newborn anymore, he was all of 7 weeks. Chubby, smiley and starting to coo.

New Year's Eve and I'm sitting here with my Starbucks white chocolate Americano catching up on some of my favorite blogs. I probably should be folding the mountain of laundry that is staring me down (again!) but who wants to fold laundry on New Year's Eve?

2008 has been such an amazing year... and definitely one that has gone by way too quickly. We have had the joy of watching Maddy grow from a sweet and cuddly newborn into an even sweeter and happy little one year old. My little man learned to ride his bike like a pro, is learning his letters and sounds and is wanting to read so badly, and continues to amaze me when it comes to his imagination and his artistic, creative abilities. In 2008 our family said good-bye to our old boy Louie, the yellow lab we had for 13 years. He is waiting for us with Payton and others at the Rainbow Bridge. Have you seen the movie Marley and Me yet? Well, Louie could give Marley a run for his money in the wild and crazy department. He's already been gone 5 months... but we still miss his joyful spirit and goofiness everyday.

And 2008 was the year I got to know so many of YOU and had a chance to do something that I love and have become so passionate about...photography. I have been updating my website this week (check it out!) and it's funny how photographs take you back to that place in time. Looking through them put me right back there with your sweet, precious newborns and your joyful and giggling toddlers. I hope they do the same for you. Thanks again for an incredible 2008 and best wishes for 2009!

And of course... there has to be pictures too! I wanted to include pictures of my kids as I see them right now at the end of 2008. It's not always about the *perfect* picture - for me it's about capturing the moment... here are two ...

This is Will's idea of posing. He likes to point his fingers. :) You wouldn't believe how many pictures I have with his fingers pointing just like this. He is a silly one, a completely adorable goof-ball!

And Maddy...the sleepy one. She has truly been such a dream baby from the moment we brought her home. Here she is cuddling with her bunny that she can't sleep without. This picture is far from *perfect* but it will help me remember those quiet moments when I sneak into her room to watch her sleep...

Well, it happened today. My baby girl took her first steps. Only 2 little ones and then she quickly sat down because crawling is much faster. But it means she is growing up way way too fast.

She celebrated her first birthday this week. It's hard for me to believe that her babyhood is almost over. But I must say, I am the luckiest mommy in the world to be the mother of two wonderful children. Will with his never-ending spirit and Maddy with the gentle soul. They compliment each other so well.

A Chilly Fall Morning....

A final fall family session and we actually had nice weather! We've had this session on the books for months and even though it was a little chilly Sunday morning, it was dry! And I'm so glad because outdoors is just the best place to capture sweet family moments.

Little T was a doll. The camera loved her beautiful blond hair and blue eyes. Thanks so much for having me out to photograph your family. It was great to finally meet you! :)

And did I mention... I love fall! Isn't it just beautiful? The weather has been so perfect and the leaves are so colorful. I had to get out and get some photos of my kiddos in the leaves. Would you believe these trees are next to a gas station just off the freeway? Don't worry, we were careful!

Will thought it was so funny to put the leaves on Maddy's head. She didn't seem to mind!

This little miss is just too cute. Piggy tails and dimples - who can resist? We had a great time at Western this morning. The campus is beautiful this time of year and would you believe... no rain! A lot dew and wet grass, but this little lady was a trooper. We sang Elmo songs and indulged in a few Smarties along the way... whatever it takes to get a great photo!

Such a fun time today with little Miss "H"! :) We had a fun time downtown (in the alley even!) and then headed to the pumpkin farm and apple orchard. This little girlie was a trooper and tolerated 2 hours of me with a camera in her face!

You know the days when you have a million things you are supposed to be doing but you choose to do something completely different? So here I am, posting pictures on my blog. I have a few new ones of my little girl. She is still so darn happy and cooperative when I have my camera out. Her big bro, well.... not so much anymore. :) Thanks to our neighbors for letting me use their gorgeous field. It is just so perfectly green and the light at sunset is dreamy. :)

Such a fun family session tonight at Western Washington University. This beautiful family looked fabulous and their little lady was on the go! She gave me a workout. :) But after chasing her around, exploring Western's sculptures and fountain, she finally tired out. And then, she stood still! :)

I am so behind in editing and printing pictures of my own little ones. Makes me feel guilty, at times! So, I had to get my fix and send some away to be printed. Time to freshen up the frames with some new pics!

My little Gerber baby...

Don't you just love how babies always play with their feet. And look at those knuckle dimples... she won't have those forever. This one is going on the wall in her room.

And then my boy. Yes, he sat still long enough for a few pictures the other day. We went to Fairhaven in Bellingham and I had to promise ice cream! But bribes still work with this kid, especially those involving sweets. And by the way, Fairhaven is just perfect for photo shoots. If anyone is wanting a fun, "urban" session, that is the place!

Sometimes you find the sweetest little spots in unexpected places. We were on a 3 day weekend in Canada this weekend and happened upon this little bridge surrounded by flowers. I had to put Maddy on it for a quick picture. Her big brother gave her the flower.... ahhhh.....

Our little lady is almost 8 months old already. It's so amazing and slightly depressing how fast the first year goes. She's almost crawling - watch out Will, 'cuz here she comes!!!!

The old man is gone. We woke up today to learn that Louie had passed away in his sleep. For thirteen years, he was our lovable goof-ball who never realized he wasn't a puppy anymore. I've never met another dog quite as silly as he was. Shredding golf balls, eating loaves of bread whole that he stole from the pantry, running out of the house with the pillows from my couch, and chewing up every toy that Will left out in the yard - being a menace was what he did best. But he was a wonderful dog, a loyal friend and it breaks my heart to lose him.

He was Will's kindred spirit - I would say he was his brother from another mother. Both of them had a mischievous side. From the time Will was just a baby, he would sit at the sliding glass door and grin and giggle at Louie. I'm so glad they got a chance to be friends.

I hope there are ducks to chase, rivers to swim and plenty of golf balls to chew in Heaven, dear friend. Until we meet again...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

I've been so busy posting client sessions lately that I thought it was time to show just a few of my own little ones. I still take pictures of them everyday...whether they like it or not!

Will has been hunting the elusive "cooney bears" that live in my rose garden. Have you ever seen one? Me neither. But I'm guessing they look something like a cross between a racoon and a bear. This boy's got some imagination...A little heart to heart between brother and sis. She simply adores him.

I've been wanting to take Will out to my grandparents' barn before the farm is sold. I was able to bribe him with a Happy Meal and a milkshake. Surprisingly, he went for it. He's getting wise to my tricks. We had fun at the farm and I'm very pleased with how well these turned out. I'm a bit sad, however, that the barn won't be ours forever.
